Fraud advisory

If anyone asks for money to approve your loan, it isn’t us.

Fraudsters sometimes use the names of real companies. Here is what SP & SP will never ask for, how to check that a message really is from us, and where to report fraud.

What we never ask for

Six things SP & SP will never do.

Not by phone, email, SMS or WhatsApp. If someone does any of these in our name, they are not acting for us, whatever name or logo they use.

Never

Ask for a fee to an individual

We never ask you to pay a ‘processing’, ‘file’, ‘approval’, ‘insurance’ or ‘registration’ fee to an individual or to a personal UPI ID.

Never

Charge to get a loan approved

We will never ask you to pay money to us or to any individual to get a loan approved. Only the lender decides.

Never

Ask for your OTP

No one from SP & SP will ask for a one-time password, for any reason. Whoever has your OTP can act as you.

Never

Ask for your UPI PIN or CVV

We never ask for your UPI PIN, ATM PIN or card CVV. Remember: you never need a PIN to receive money.

Never

Ask for your passwords

We never ask for your net-banking, email or app passwords. No genuine lender or channel partner needs them.

Never

Promise guaranteed approval

We never promise guaranteed approval or a particular interest rate. Anyone who does is not speaking for us.

How to check

Is it really us? Four checks.

Do these before you reply, pay or share anything. They take a minute.

  1. Check the email address

We write only from addresses that end in @spandsp.com. Look closely: fraudsters use look-alike addresses, with a letter added or changed, or a free email service.

  2. Check the lender

Before your application goes anywhere, we tell you the lender’s name. The Key Facts Statement and loan agreement come from that lender, on its own letterhead, and money moves only between you and the lender.

  3. Check the app

Asked to install a lending app? First check it against the RBI’s list of Digital Lending Apps deployed by regulated entities, on rbi.org.in (opens in a new tab) under Citizen’s Corner.

  4. Check with us

Forward the message to [email protected] and wait for our reply before you act on it.

Where to report

Report fraud, as soon as you can.

These are official government and RBI channels.

Cyber fraud

Call 1930

The national cyber crime helpline. Call first if you have lost money.

If someone used the SP & SP name, please also tell us at [email protected].

Job seekers

Job offers in our name.

Fake job offers are common. A real offer from us never comes with a bill.

We never charge job seekers any fee.

SP & SP never charges job seekers any fee for registration, interviews, training or placement, and never asks candidates for bank passwords or OTPs. If anyone asks you for money in our name, do not pay. Report it to [email protected].

Signs that it isn’t us

  • Any fee, for registration, interviews, training or placement
  • An email address that doesn’t end in @spandsp.com
  • A request for your bank password or an OTP

Not sure about a message? Ask us first.

Forward it to [email protected] before you reply, pay or share anything.
